Rik Lee Rules

These are some illustrations by my long lost friend the ruler Rik. I think he lives in Melbourne now and I am kicking myself as that I didn't see him when I was there.

If you'd like to see more click here and have a peek at more of his amazing work. Much respect Rik Lee! Peace out from Alice xxx

I just had a look at Christopher Kane's first collection for spring/summer 2007 and was enchanted all over again.

Remember these little babies?

Lace, crystals, brass rings, elastic, plastic zips, candy colours, plastic buckles, fun!

Wilson's Prom with William

Wilson's Promontory, apparently it's the southern most point of Australia, and that's where I wanted to go.

Far far away from the city, taking William with me. We walked from Tidal river to Squeaky Beach where the sand is so fine and white it squeaks when you walk on it.

Foggy Christmas Spider Webs

I think it was wednesday I was walking to work and it was so foggy. I love a good fog. All the spider webs were covered in frost droplets and looked like delicate necklaces. I found one fir tree which looked like a christmas tree adorned all over with crystaly spider webs. So pretty!

Hot Boy Cake Cup

What a life I lead. Quality time with Marawa Cup spent sauntering around the Borough Market on saturday. Hot Boy Dancing Spot adventures with Tim and Paulito later that night. Then, a little too soon after, lunch and cup cakes at granny's house.

This little cut out display was in the oak room next door. We went for sunday afternoon tea/brunch. I ate sardines on toast and though they weren't cooked quite as crunchy as I'd like, I always drink a peach bellini and have a darling time. The man with faded pink hair plays all the newest songs on the piano and we have a guessing game.

La Clique on a Saturday night

I went to see La Clique at the Camden Roundhouse last night. Carl-Einer Hackner's magician debacle made me squeal with delight. Anyone who shoots silver balloon snakes out of their fly is down with me.

This photo of singer/dramarama Meow Meow I found on the La Clique website how gorgeous?

Marawa you rule. I love your new orange glitter heels and your hair is out of this world.
Much respect to the whole cast/crew.
I am a huge fan!

Handsome Steve's House of Refreshment

On my last day in Melbourne we went to Lentil as Anything at the Abbotsford Convent, drank champagne in the gardens and cooed over baby Ivy, and then went upstairs for more adult activities. Upstairs hidden somewhere in the Convent building is Handsome Steve's House of Refreshment o what a find! They (my dearest friends) drank jugs of beer, I sipped Campari and lemonade and Amanda Honey-hair drank apple juice. Boy were we refreshed when we left. Thank you Steve. Thank you

Burglars Welcome

Today I went, all jet-lag haze, to Primrose Hill to visit Marawa in her new residence. It's a fucking dream! An apartment with giant windows overlooking the park and huge squashy sofas to lounge around on. On my way home (in the fading light at 3 o clock pm) I came across this little affirmation: Burglars Operate in this area. Nothing like a bit of positive thinking. I do think this is a good one to repeat every time you leave your house.

AC/DC Hells Bells

Meatball and I went to see the AC/DC cover bands play on the back of a truck out the front of the Arts Centre. Kerrie's lil' son Archie wanted to go so bad, he's only 3 years old, how cool can you get?

The AC/DC exhibition that's on there is pretty cool and that famous photo of me and Bon Scott is included. Back in Black was still stuck in my head a week later when I went to Wilson's Prom. I may have done metal hand sign and pulled up my t-shirt in true bogan style too.

Hairspray, my mamma told me not to use it.

We went to a big hair party, of course we had to sport the largest bouffants. This is ma cousin Piroska of the PiroskaWolf blog she had the biggest hair, no doubt.

This is Meatball.
There was a plate of Iced Vo-Vo biscuits, o joy!
There was a giant can of Cedel hairspray (taller than a man) spraying dry ice. It was a dream come true. I have a photo somewhere I'll find it soon. Promise

Anish Kapoor Sandwich

I went to see the Anish Kapoor exhibition at the Royal Academy on sunday and it reminded me of the children's book The Giant Jam Sandwich. Do you remember that one?

There was a greasy, waxy red loaf moving along tracks through the giant doorways in that impressive building. Though most amusement was had in the room of mirrors where Tim and I delighted (as tall people) by seeming to be tiny in our reflections. He he he.

Terry De Havilland + Double Wig + Alice = Trouble

So I wasn't going out, a cold, a trip the next morning. I made myself a new white lycra mini dress, then a glass of wine and Nasir and Paulie are dressing me up all stupid. It was so funny.

Terry De Havilland the shoe master made me a pair of red snakeskin boots. My feet now lead me into trouble.

When I got home my wig wouldn't come off and bobby pins were flying all over the landing. The next day Dinx (my house mate) had made a collage on the table. Hint hint I think.
